Être mauvais en peinture est une chose.
Essai d’un peintre japonais, Morikazu Kumagai, actif au début du 19e siècle.
Le titre est le suivant : “Ne pas être bon fait aussi partie de votre tableau” ou “Le charme de la peinture est que vous n’essayez pas de bien dessiner”.
Si j’arrivais à bien traduire ce titre, je serais un grand peintre.

An essay by a Japanese painter “Morikazu Kumagai” who was active in the early 19th century.
The title is, “Not good is also part of your picture.” or “The charm of painting is that you don’t try to draw well.”
If I could translate this title well, I would be a great painter.
へたも絵のうち
旅行先のイタリア、ローマでは一枚も描けなかったけれど、電車で3時間くらい移動して、バスで山を上がったトスカーナ地方のモンテプルチアーノという町で一枚スケッチを描き、それから今日まで毎日描く習慣ができました。
「自分は絵が好きだった」という幼児体験を思い出すように楽しいものを探して描いています。
一応 職業デザイナーなので、上手く描こうとか、こんな感じに描いてみようとか、目標ポイントを設定しがちなのだけれど、この猫を描いた昭和の、もしくは明治の画家 熊谷守一のように描いてみたいものだ。
このタイトルの「へた」がむつかしい。英語でも書いたけれど、このタイトルが上手く翻訳できたら大したもんだ。
「猫」と「描く」はとても似ていて、何か関係がありそうだっ！
もし、良い訳が思いついたら教えてほしい。
