Italy sketch trip - Summer, 2021

Our family’s summer trip was busy like this.

First, we spend about 12 hours at the Charles de Gaulle airport on a strike by an airline company…
There was only a sandwich stand, and we overcame it.

We finally arrived at Rome Airport near midnight.
The taxi that flies strangely through the pitch-black city feels uneasy.

Visit the amphitheater Colosseum, which is a World Heritage Site, in the hot weather at 37° in Rome.

The cappuccino and croissants I ordered at the Colosseum subway counter bar were really delicious.
Where does the fineness of this bubble come from?

Stay in Rome for only 3 days. The entire city is a World Heritage Site!

Take a suburban train from Rome to the town of Montepulciano in Tuscany.
The purpose of our trip is to meet friends who haven’t met in 17 years.

Montepulciano is also famous for producing grapes and wine.
We are swayed by a bus for about 30 minutes and go up a mountain of about 600m.
I’ve never seen such a beautiful mountain landscape! I was impressed, and then I sketch every day.

The B & B called Fattoria San Martino, which is a renovated old farm, is really wonderful.

At dinner, the proprietress looks at the sketchbook with interest, “What did you draw(work) today ?!”
（Even though it is a B & B, you can experience it as a delicious vegetarian dinner.）
The proprietress’s family seemed to be returning home, and I was happy that we became part of a large family.
I wanted to stay here because my friend is doing public relations (Instagram).

Originally a Milanese, she got her driver’s license at the age of 40 and is driving dashingly in the Tuscan mountains.
She took us to a drive around the world heritage sites of the neighboring town, Pienza and the Val d’Orcia.
I’m really happy to see her bravely living on the ground.

Since it’s summer! we wanted to go to the sea, so we went to Cinque Terre, a rocky mountain town facing the Tyrrhenian Sea on the west side.

Cinque Terre means “five lands” and five towns are adjacent to the rocky mountains along the coast.

We stayed at the top of the mountain with a nice view, but it’s hard to climb and also hard to go down the rocky mountain to the tech and the coast.

As expected, the freshly picked fried small fish and shrimp were delicious.
The sea is rocks and gravel, but when you poke your head a little, you can see a school of small fish swimming quickly in the beautiful water.

I wasn’t interested in the Leaning Tower of Pisa at all, but there is an airport in Pisa.
Is it about 15 minutes by train?

Finally, my daughter sketched a Leaning Tower of Pisa and finished our busy summer trip.

I upload the sketch I drew.

I keep drawing in Paris without forgetting the feelings of Tuscany. Grazie！

僕たち家族の夏の旅行はこんな感じで忙しい。

パリシャルルドゴール空港にて、航空会社のストライキで約12時間、空港で過ごす。
サンドイッチしかなくてやり過ごす。。。

ローマ空港には深夜近くにやっと到着。

真っ暗な街を妙に飛ばすタクシーも不安な感じ。

ローマ37℃　暑い中　世界遺産である円形闘技場コロッセオなどを訪問。
暑い～！

コロッセオの地下鉄のカウンターバーで頼んだカプチーノとクロワッサンがさすがに美味しかった。
この泡のキメの細かさはどこからくるのだろうか？

3日間のローマ滞在。街全体が世界遺産！

ローマから郊外電車に乗り、トスカーナ地方のモンテプルチアーノという町へ移動
今回の旅の目的は、ここに住む17年来の友人に会うため。

モンテプルチアーノは葡萄、そしてワインの生産地としても有名。
バスに30分くらいゆられて、約600mくらいの山を上がる。
こんな美しい山岳風景を見たことない！と感動し、それから毎日スケッチをしている。

古い農場を改装したサン・マルティーノというB&Bが本当素晴らしい。
夕食の時に、女将さんが「今日はどんなのを描いたの？！」と興味深くスケッチブックを見てくれる。
（B&Bといっても美味しいベジタリアンディナーと体験できます。）
家族も帰郷しているようで、大きな家族の一員になったようで嬉しかった。
ここに泊まりたかったのは、友人が広報(インスタ係)をやっているから。

Fattoria San Martino

もともとミラネーゼ(ミラノ人)だった彼女は、40歳で運転免許を取得して、トスカーナの山々を颯爽と運転している。
隣町の世界遺産である、Pienzaやオルチャ渓谷などをドライブに連れていってくれた。
勇敢に地に足つけて生活している姿を見れて本当に嬉しい ^_^

夏だから海にも行きたいと欲張り、西側のティレニア海に面した岩山の街チンク・テーレへ。
チンク・テーレは「5つの土地」という意味で、海岸沿いの岩山に5つの町が隣接している。
チンク・チェントは500ccの意味。
眺めの良い、山の一番上に宿をとったのだけれど、上るのは大変だし、岩山をテクテクと海岸まで下りるのも骨が折れる。

さすがに採れたばかりの小魚やエビのフライが美味しかった。
海は岩と砂利なのだが、少し頭を突っ込んでみると、小魚の群れがさっそうと泳いでいるのが見える綺麗な水。

ピサの斜塔には、全く興味がなかったけれど、ピサには空港があるんです。
電車で15分くらいかしら？

最後に娘もピサの斜塔を１枚スケッチして、ちょっと忙しい夏の旅行を終えました。
