これは1980年のイタリアのFagginというメーカーの自転車です。
ちょうど後ろのタイヤにかかる部分とフロントフォークがクロームメッキで、本体にあたる部分だけをペイントしてあるのが、当時のFagginの特徴です。
イタリア職人のいい味がでています。
一つ一つのパーツを指先で優しく撫でながら説明してくれる彼。説明というか想い出ばなし。。。
自転車への愛が鉄のフレームを通してひしひしと伝わってきます。
前のタイヤハブに小さくてかわいいアナログ式な走行距離メーターがついていて、しっかりと彼の過去の記憶が残っています。
「さようなら」と言ってずっと僕たちのことを見ているんだけど、何だか、こっちが目頭熱くなってきたわ。
この数週間、自転車の話をする人々が声を揃えて言うのは、「フランスにはシクロ・ツーリズムという文化がある」という事。「Aller plus loin ! (もっと遠くへ！)」
自転車で遠くへ楽しく旅行をしようという文化。そういう考えとツーリズムを楽しんできた人々、培った技術ががツール・ド・フランスのような歴史を作り上げたんでしょうね。
